The consistent Feltre has overcome a slight hiccup to his preparation and is ready to once again tackle stakes company at Doomben.
Part-owner Bill Andrews said the original plan was to give Feltre his lead-up to the Bernborough Stakes last Saturday but he decided to scratch the gelding after drizzle throughout the day.
Feltre made up for the lack of a run leading into Saturday's Listed Bernborough Handicap with a barrier trial win at Deagon during the week.
"He has won on soft going but he has a dicky tendon and it was exactly the type of slippery track you don't want horses like him to run on," Andrews said.
"Lyn gave him a trial at Deagon on Tuesday and hopefully that will make up for missing the run last week."
Feltre sat three-deep in the trial and came away to score an easy win over handy restricted class horse Unbowed.
Andrews said Tipper had done an outstanding job managing Feltre who had shown he was up to stakes company when fifth in the Group Three George Moore Stakes won by Didntcostalot three weeks ago.
"That was a very good run because they ran sensational time and Feltre was hitting the line hard," Andrews said.
"His jockey Ryan Wiggins has no doubt he will run a strong 1600 metres in open company."
Andrews hopes Feltre will then push on to the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy (1800m) on January 9.
Feltre has won six of his 15 starts and earned $188,000 but will need more in the bank to make the Trophy field.
Among his opposition at Doomben is Centre Pivot who has been mixing his form in Sydney.
He is one of several horses in Queensland for trainer John Sargent but is among those likely to be transferred to Peter Robl in the coming weeks.
The former jockey will shortly begin training in his own right after being allocated stables at Randwick where he will prepare horses for Segenhoe Thoroughbreds.
