Glyn Schofield to ride at Happy Valley

Sunday 20 December 2015, 1:24pm

Glyn Schofield's trip to Hong Kong to visit his jockey son Chad has turned into a working holiday.

The elder Schofield, one of Sydney leading jockeys who also rode in Hong Kong for many years, has been called on to ride at Happy Valley on Wednesday.

Injuries, illness and suspensions have left the Hong Kong Jockey Club without enough riders for the meeting.

On Saturday a horse had to be scratched from the final race because there was no rider available when two senior jockeys became ill during the meeting.

Chad Schofield is one of the jockeys on the suspended list.

His father will return to Australia to ride at the feature Gold Coast meeting on Saturday.
