A leading Victorian bookmaker has been suspended for four months and fined $25,000 for accepting more than 3000 bets in breach of his licence.
Anthony Doughty fronted the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Tuesday to answer charges he took approximately 3374 bets totalling more than $900,000 between August 11, 2010 and October 28 last year outside licence conditions.
Doughty pleaded guilty to taking the bets from a number of his clients via his personal phone and not the one approved by authorities.
The bets consisted of Victorian, interstate and international thoroughbred racing as well as sports bets.
