The Toby Edmonds-trained Sundance will have to undergo a veterinary examination to take his place in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast.
The colt was found to have an abscess on a hind hoof earlier this week which has been lanced.
Racing Queensland vets will monitor Sundance in the lead-up to Saturday's race.
The Les Ross-trained Rainy Day Woman is the first emergency for the race which is part of Australia's richest race day with $10 million prize money on offer.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Capitalist remains the odds-on favourite for the Classic.
