Jockey Brad Rawiller was afforded the luxury of a refreshing drink between rides at Sandown on Wednesday.
Rawiller had to waste hard to ride Waxing at 56.5kg on a day when the temperature hit 42 degrees during the meeting.
The heavyweight jockey finished the day with a winning double, guiding Darcy's Law to success in the Premier Signs Handicap and French Emotion in the Le Pine Funerals Handicap.
Rawiller was able to consume fluids during the day and rode French Emotion at 58.5kg in the final event.
"I rode this winner in the same gear I rode one at 56-and-a-half earlier in the day," Rawiller said after his winning ride on French Emotion.
"I've drank almost two litres and was able to make the 58-and-a-half."
Rawiller said he was thankful there was no humidity.
He remembers riding in Macau as well as meeting in country Victoria when both meetings were called off because of humidity.
"Humidity, that's the killer when it's hot," he said.
Rawiller had cold showers to keep his core temperature in check but said the relief didn't last long in the blazing hot conditions.
