Former Sydney sprinter Dream Choice has found a new home with Robert Heathcote in Brisbane where the trainer hopes he can take advantage of the lighter weight scale.

The seven-year-old will carry 55kg in his Queensland debut in Saturday's 1200m-open handicap at the Sunshine Coast.

The winner of seven races in NSW, Dream Choice has had five previous trainers, the latest Gai Waterhouse.

As a younger horse Dream Choice showed potential and ran an 1100m-course record at Scone but has been struggling under big weights in Sydney.

At his most recent start he finished fifth behind Start Wondering at Rosehill on December 19 under 59kg.

"He is owned by Dynamic Syndications and they felt he was being weighted out of Sydney racing. He is much better placed up here," Heathcote said.

"There have been more than a few Sydney horses come here and win in open company in recent years."

Michael Cahill will ride Dream Choice from barrier 11 but wide draws are not always a disadvantage on the spacious Sunshine Coast track.

Heathcote has booked two kilogram-claiming apprentice Matt McGillivray for stablemate Jopa in the same race.

"Jopa is paying for his consistency and got 59 kilograms in the original weights," Heathcote said.

"Jopa was a good winner first-up and it is a sharp drop in weight since his last-start ninth in the Goldmarket Handicap on Boxing Day."

The star sprinter of the Heathcote stable, Buffering, has been vaccinated in preparation for his tilt at the Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai in March.

"He is out at Washpool Lodge so it is a chance for him to recover from the vaccinations and be ready to travel," Heathcote said.
