3YO King's Troop still in Expressway mix

Wednesday 27 January 2016, 12:34pm

Trainer Gerald Ryan has decided to keep his options open with King's Troop and the three-year-old remains in the mix for the Group Two Expressway Stakes.

Ryan had indicated the colt would bypass the race in favour of the Eskimo Prince Stakes against his own age a week later.

However, the small Expressway field of eight has given him cause for a rethink.

"I haven't discussed it with (owners) Arrowfield yet but I decided it didn't look like being a big race entry-wise so we'll see how it pans out," Ryan said.

Tim Clark will ride King's Troop if the horse takes his place.

The Expressway Stakes has attracted a field of eight including prolific winner Our Boy Malachi who will be racing for the first time since he bled in last year's Doomben 10,000.
