Maldicion as a yearling the day I purchased her
It is hard to believe this is our 100th edition of ‘Prime Dispatch’. Prime Dispatch took over from ‘Prime Time’ when we launched our new website. Hopefully I will be able to write our 1000th edition in time.
The high benchmark set by our team of four and five year olds is always going to be hard to better with 27 of the 28 live horses we syndicated winning and all 28 getting to the races. Unfortunately the most expensive filly and colt purchased in our team of four year olds died before we could do anything with them on the track. I’m not including them in the 28.
The four year olds in particular are a remarkable crop of horses with Husson Eagle, Hijack Hussy, Savoureux, Annaman, Rumeron, Bella Venus, Stimuli, Raido, Makeadane, Sitkamose, Invincible Me, Hazy Blur and Arrayanes all winning although Arrayanes won in Darwin after we moved her on.
These 13 horses have already won 35 races for combined stakes earnings of $1,848,483. They collectively cost $628,500 for an average purchase price of $48,346. Only Arrayanes and Sitkamose have been moved on.
I am confident our team of three year olds will in time produce some excellent results for their owners. Since 23 December 2015 we have stepped out the winners Reneged at Warwick Farm, Malcicion at Cranbourne and Naranja at Newcastle. On top of this we By Golly Molly was very unlucky on debut when placed third in a strong Scone maiden. We have some very high quality horses in this crop and as they mature I’m sure we will start to see some outstanding results.
Added to these we also have Atalanta Miss which won the Adelaide Magic Millions and the promising middle distance filly and winner Shining Brooke in this crop.
MAGIC MILLIONS YEARLING PURCHASES
I have been quite pleased with the way the yearlings have been received by the market with shares already taken up in all the yearlings.
The Savabeel colt in particular has been very well received and I only have 10% of him remaining. If you wish to get into him contact me on 0433762700. He is an outstanding yearling and after the results in Karaka very well priced indeed.
There has been one change to the breakup of our yearlings. I switched the Sebring to john Moloney and Kris Lees gets the I Am Invincible. The allocation and share prices of our yearlings are as follows:
Lot 2 Sebring/A Quiet Shandy filly John Moloney ($11,500 per share)
Lot 484 Savabeel / On Broadway colt John Thompson (Contact me for details)
Lot 667 Smart Missile / Tantsima filly Patrick Payne ($9,900 per share)
Lot 841 Magic Albert / Shine On Anna filly Tony Gollan ($8,500 per share)
Lot 921 I Am Invincible / Cathead filly Kris Lees ($15,000 per share)
As usual 5% share are available in all the yearlings.
ON THE TRACK
Naranja’s win was a highlight of the week just gone with By Golly Molly being very good on debut. We had some frustration, quite a bit in fact with Strike For Victory not going into the barriers in Hobart and being scratched. The eventual winner was placed in a trial over 3 seconds slower than the heat Strike For Victory won. Racing is a great leveller but we were not helped by the pathetic efforts of the barrier attendants but that is another story.
This week we have Stimuli and Unique running at Hawkesbury. On Friday night we have Maldicion running at Moonee Valley where she is on trial to head to Tasmania for the Oaks. Hussy’s Glow will run at Morphettville on Saturday.
