Darren Weir is waiting on the results of a blood test before committing Signoff to a start at Caulfield.

Signoff needs to contest the Robert Hunter Handicap on Saturday to have any chance of lining up in next month's Adelaide Cup at Morphettville.

The stayer has had his campaign thrown into disarray after an ibuprofen irregularity from a first-up win forced his scratching from a Flemington race on January 16.

Ibuprofen has been linked to several recent swabs with the Clinton McDonald-trained Rib Eye returning three positives tests.

Both Signoff and Rib Eye had been treated with ibuprofen to help overcome a tendon injury.

Weir said he galloped Signoff following his Flemington scratching with a subsequent blood tests coming back negative.

"We galloped him again on Tuesday and took another one (blood test) and hopefully we get that result tomorrow (Friday)," Weir said.

"We'll just keep testing him to see what happens."

Weir said while Signoff has done plenty of work in preparation for the Adelaide Cup he needs racing to have him at his top.

The Racing Victoria Integrity Council met on Monday to discuss the spate of ibuprofen irregularities with their recommendations to go before the Racing Victoria Board on February 11.
