Diamond picture takes shape for top stable

Friday 5 February 2016, 2:57pm

Lindsay Park will give half its Blue Diamond team the chance to further press their claims for the Group One race when it races five juveniles across three meetings.

The resurgent stable has five youngsters entered for four races at Caulfield, Randwick and Moonee Valley.

Highland Beat and Dam Ready contest the Chairman's Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday and Valliano runs in the Inglis Premier.

Rampage contests the Inglis Classic at Randwick while Ghenwaa makes her debut at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said the stable would reassess its Blue Diamond hopefuls following the Preludes on Saturday week.

Moonee Valley winner Zamzam will tackle the fillies heat with two unraced Fastnet Rock two-year-olds, Lionhearted and Ocean Grove, to make their debuts in the colts and geldings division.

"They are all still in contention but there's still a bit that can happen between now and the Blue Diamond and it can thin out," Dabernig said.

"They will all need to run well at their next starts to say that we are still on track and this weekend will tell us a bit more just where we are at."

Highland Beat returns after contesting the Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast when he finished 10th behind Capitalist.

"I think he's better on the Melbourne leg and has drawn a good gate and has that race experience," Dabernig said.

"As long as he hasn't gone over the top, which he hasn't shown any signs that he has, I think should run well."

A poor draw and the lack of race experience is against Dam Ready but Dabernig said the colt was promising.
