Group One-winning jockey Jason Taylor broke an 11-month drought in Saturday metropolitan racing when promising filly Gracefully Chic won at Doomben.
Taylor, on a comeback trail after shoulder surgery, scored an overdue win on Gracefully Chic ($3.50).
"She is promising but I reckon she will go even better in blinkers," Taylor said.
The popular jockey has ridden hundreds of winners and his biggest successes include the 2011 One Stradbroke Handicap and the 2001 Brisbane Cup.
He left Doomben in a hurry to fulfil his mounts at the Gold Coast where he has been riding most of the time on Saturdays.
"I am hoping to ride a bit more in town in coming weeks," Taylor said.
Trainer Trevor Whittington has always had a big opinion of Gracefully Chic and he gave her first race start in the Group Three McLachlan Stakes on Boxing Day.
"She was well beaten in the McLachlan but she trialled well after it and her previous start second at Doomben was food," Whittington said.
