Telperion's rise in Golden Slipper markets following his win at Randwick is matched by his trainer's opinion of the colt.
John O'Shea oversees an army of Godolphin two-year-olds and rates Telperion high on the list.
With Saturday's field for the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) reduced to five after scratchings, Telperion, the $2 favourite, came from last to put 1-1/4 lengths on Prized Icon ($3.60) despite wandering wide in the straight.
The TAB immediately promoted Telperion in its Slipper market from $51 to $15 and O'Shea said the $3 million race was a firm target.
"He is a lovely colt and he rates very highly on the list of our two-year-olds," O'Shea said.
"We'll look at bringing him back here in two weeks for the Skyline Stakes.
"He probably got to the front a little soon with the small field and wandered a little bit.
"But that's no cause for concern."
Telperion was ridden by James McDonald who was sporting a severely bruised ankle after a barrier incident at Canterbury on Friday night.
Telperion's stablemate Astern, the $11 third favourite for the Slipper on March 19, is scheduled to run in next week's Silver Slipper at Rosehill.
Capitalist remains the dominant $3.50 favourite to win the Slipper ahead of Extreme Choice at $8 with that colt the $2.40 favourite for the Blue Diamond Stakes in two weeks.
