Vic jumps jockeys head to Ireland

Tuesday 16 February 2016, 7:24am

Victorian jumps jockeys Dara O'Meachir and Adam Roustoby will spend three weeks with trainer Willie Mullins in Ireland in the lead-up to the Cheltenham festival.

The two are the winners of the second annual scholarship awarded by Racing Victoria.

Mullins, the trainer of Melbourne Cup runner-up Max Dynamite, is expected to dominate the Cheltenham meeting in March and the Irishman is also favourite to win the British jumps trainers' championship.

Experienced rider O'Meachir and Roustoby, who is yet to make his professional debut, will also ride track work and school horses for National Hunt trainers at the famous Curragh course.
