Trainer Tony Sears hopes his recent good run of success spills over to two of his in-form stable's unluckiest horses.

Sears was in top form last season, winning the Toowoomba trainers' premiership and finishing eighth in the overall Queensland title.

He has continued that form this season with 32 winners and he has had victories at the two most recent Doomben Saturday meetings with Pearly Court and Two Shoes.

Sears has two top chances in Pillar Of Creation and Zaha's Ace in the GPK - Your Technology Partner Handicap at Doomben on Saturday.

Pillar Of Creation has taken the meaning of the word unlucky to a new level since joining Sears from Melbourne trainer Peter Moody last year.

The gelding has failed to win in 12 Queensland starts but has banked nearly $100,000 in minor place prize money.

Pillar Of Creation has run placings in three stakes races and each time has met with misfortune.

The biggest calamity came at his last start when he lost the $100,000 Listed Sunshine Coast Cup on a controversial protest lodged by stewards.

"If any horse deserves a win it is him. He probably wants a soft track to do his best and I hope there is some rain about," Sears said.

Sears has booked senior rider Brad Pengelly for Pillar Of Creation and believes the horse isn't harshly weighted.

Zaha's Ace hasn't won since December, 2014 but she has also been plagued by some bad barriers and interference.

"She was a good last-start third at her in a Doomben open handicap and her best form is at that track. If you look at her form he has had only one bad run at Doomben," Sears said.

He said Zaha's Ace would also be advantaged if predicted rain comes late this week.

Anthony Allen, who rode Pillar Of Creation in the Sunshine Coast Cup, has switched to Zaha's Ace.
