Kerrin McEvoy has picked up the ride on Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes.
McEvoy confirmed New Zealand-based trainer Murray Baker had booked him for the plum mount after regular rider Opie Bosson opted to partner Turn Me Loose in Melbourne on the same day.
"It's only for the one race but it's exciting to be on a Caulfield Cup winner," McEvoy said.
Mongolian Khan, who arrived at the Sydney stable of Baker's trainer son Bjorn on Wednesday, was among the favourites for last year's Melbourne Cup when he was struck down by colic and scratched from the race.
McEvoy will also link with the Baker stable at Rosehill on Saturday when he rides Dal Cielo in the Group Two Hobartville Stakes.
A Group One winner in New Zealand, Dal Cielo was twice placed in Group company during the Melbourne spring carnival, most recently when second to Mahuta in the Sandown Guineas.
"He's a horse who can perform fresh and he's trialled up sharply in New Zealand," McEvoy said.
