Trainer Tony Sears admitted Pillar Of Creation's Doomben win was only part consolation for the gelding losing his previous start on protest.
Pillar Of Creation ($4.40) gave jockey Brad Pengelly a winning double when he scored his first win in 13 starts in Queensland in the GPK - Your Technology Partner Handicap on Saturday.
Sears said Pillar Of Creation was extremely unlucky in many Queensland starts, ending with a loss on protest in the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup.
"My wife said to me she hoped that never happened to me again. I sulked for two weeks but it is behind me and I am very happy for the owners Contract Racing who have stuck with me," Sears said.
Pillar Of Creation will be eased and brought back for the Listed Weetwood Handicap at Toowoomba on April 16.
Jockey Jim Byrne rode through the pain barrier to help promising three-year-old Quatronic on the road to the NSW Country Championships.
Byrne, who had seven stitches in his face after being hit by a racing plate during a race on Wednesday, was one of several walking wounded in the Doomben jockeys' room to ride winners.
Damian Browne recovered from a Friday night stomach illness to win on Itz Alrite and Luke Dittman, who missed Wednesday with a shoulder injury, scored on Outraged.
Byrne showed all of his noted aggression to take Quatronic ($17) to the lead and then fought on bravely to win the Dianne Cohen Handicap.
Trainer Matt Dunn said Quatronic would be set for the NSW Country Championships qualifier at Grafton on March 6.
Smart NSW country trained galloper Binalong Road ($4.80) will remain in Queensland for a few starts after winning.
Binalong Road, who is trained by Mack Griffith at Mudgee, contested last year's NSW Country Championships but has now won too many races to be eligible for the series.
Trainer Kelly Schweida had a belated birthday celebration with four winners at two tracks in the space of 90 minutes.
Schweida won in Brisbane with Itz Alrite ($5.50) and Outraged ($2.40) and also at the Gold Coast with Zero Tolerance ($2.25) and Stella Ombre ($2.10).
