Greg Eurell keeps raising bar for Redasun

Trainer Greg Eurell is looking forward to the return to racing of lightly raced mare Redasun at Sandown.

Every preparation the Redasun has taken a step up in grade and Eurell is confident she will again rise to the occasion on Wednesday.

Redasun makes her return following a summer break in the Premier Signs Handicap.

The daughter of Haradasun scored a first-up win at Sandown last August and is unbeaten in three runs at the track.

Eurell said the four-year-old has been working well and is confident she's in for a good campaign following a pleasing second in a Geelong barrier trial.

"She seems a little bit more progressive each time that she's come in and hopefully that's going to follow on again," he said.

Eurell said Redasun is nominated for the Mannerism Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday but he preferred to kick her off against lesser grade.

But long-term he would like to target black-type races.

As a three-year-old in her first campaign, Eurell ventured to Adelaide with Redasun where she finished fifth in the Auraria Stakes before tailing the field home in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville in May.

Eurell said he may head back to Adelaide and target some of the better mares' grade races as her campaign progresses.

"Ideally we would love to get some black type with her if we can and they are races we would like to target while also being mindful of the grade that she's in now," he said.

"We're not going to go too silly but if we've got to jump the border at some stage then we would go back and give it a try.

"She's a genuine racehorse and if she happens to improve that little bit more there might be a nice black-type race for her somewhere."
