Suavito draws favourably in G1 Futurity

Wednesday 24 February 2016, 12:16pm

A quality field of 11 runners is set to tackle the weight-for-age Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.

Impressive first-up CF Orr Stakes winner Suavito will defend her 2015 Futurity title on Saturday and has drawn ideally in barrier three for Luke Currie.

However, she will face stiff opposition from Boban in barrier two, Hucklebuck in gate four and Stratum Star in barrier five.

Politeness, who tackles the race second-up, has drawn the inside while the Lloyd Williams-owned The United States will jump from the widest gate.

A capacity field of 18 along with three emergencies have accepted for the Group One Oakleigh Plate.

The Peter Moody-trained Flamberge is topweight for the 1100m dash with 58kg and his task has been made tough with an outside draw in barrier 17.

Gregers, from the Lindsay Park stable of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, has drawn barrier one while Dothraki has the outside gate.

The Futurity Stakes and Oakleigh Plate are among three Group One races at Caulfield on Saturday along with the Blue Diamond Stakes, Melbourne's richest race for two-year-olds.
