Jack Hill will make a rare city appearance for a Group One ride at Flemington.
Hill rides the Ciaron Maher-trained Bon Aurum in the Australian Guineas at Flemington on Saturday in what will be his third Group One ride.
Twelve months ago Hill's life hung in the balance after a fall at Donald that sidelined him for nine months.
Maher gave Hill his last winner before the fall which happened aboard the trainer's The Muckle Toon.
Hill feels he owes Maher a winner while also conceding the trainer possibly owes him as well.
While support has been slow since since his return in December, Hill is thankful for Maher giving him a Group One opportunity.
"Everything's been good but I'm not getting as much support as I used to get," Hill said.
"I'm still trying to get my way back into it after the fall.
"It's a lot of hard work and dedication to try and get that support back."
Hill is working hard, riding out for Robert Smerdon up to four days a week at Caulfield and ventures to the country to ride in barrier trials for Darren Weir.
However it was a surprise that Maher gave him the call up to ride Bon Aurum, a $41 chance.
"I haven't touched him and I didn't know until early Wednesday that I was riding him," Hill said.
Bon Aurum, a winner of the Caulfield Guineas Prelude before running ninth to Press Statement in the Caulfield Guineas, is third-up from a break.
