There are horses for courses and maybe horses for certain races.
At least trainer Joe Pride hopes that's the case as he prepares to sent Adorabeel out for her defence of the Group Three Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.
The mare hasn't won a race since but Pride is working on the theory a return to the scene of her biggest triumph will bring out the best in her.
"I think there's a lot to be said for taking horses back to races they've won in the past," Pride said.
"It's familiar and it seems that some horses like a particular time of year and a particular track.
"She's getting up to a suitable trip now. She ran really well last time and hit the line.
"She's spot-on."
Last time out, Adorabeel finished fifth in the Group Two Guy Walter Stakes named for the late Warwick Farm trainer who prepared the mare until his death in May 2014.
The race was won by Solicit who had previously run seconds behind Winx and Our Boy Malachi, one of the favourites for Saturday's Group One Canterbury Stakes.
"Her last bit was excellent and she was not far from the winner," Pride said.
Pride also inherited I Am Zelady who will run as favourite in the Group Three Wenona Girl (1200m).
I Am Zelady was formerly trained by the now-disqualified Sam Kavanagh and two of her three wins have come since she joined Pride, including the $1 million Fillies and Mares race at the Magic Millions carnival.
"She is very good and I'd love to get black type with her," Pride said.
"She's won more than $700,000 without winning a stakes race."
Ball Of Muscle represents the stable in the Group Two Challenge Stakes, his lead-up to the Group One Galaxy.
"I've given him two trials and he is the fittest I've ever had him first-up," Pride said.
