Wangaratta Cup rescheduled

Tuesday 8 March 2016, 6:35am

The Wangaratta Cup has been rescheduled for Easter Sunday after officials were forced to call it off because of the heat.

Sunday's meeting was cancelled after five races because of an external power failure.

A generator was brought to the course but the one-hour delay caused officials to abandon the final races which would then have been run at the hottest time of the day.

The Easter Sunday meeting at Benalla on March 27 has been moved to Wangaratta and the Cup (1590m) has been added to the program.

A $70,000 VOBIS race has been added to Thursday's Wangaratta meeting with its original fields and barriers and scratchings reinstated.
