Savoureux $65,000 purchase, Winning the Group 3 Wenona Girl Stakes

I was quite bullish heading into the weekend and my confidence was given a great boost when Hijack Hussy returned from a long lay off with a fast finishing 3rd at Flemington with her running the fastest final 400m of the day.  She is a good mare and it is great to see her back to her best.  She heads to the big Bendigo meeting on 19 March where she will step up to 1400m in the Golden Bracelet.

Later in the day we had Savoureux running in the Group 3 Wenona Girl Stakes at Royal Randwick.  She came into this race in career best form having run the fastest 600m of the day in her previous start in the Triscay Stakes.  Her final 600m that day was .8 second quicker than Winx recorded so the writing was on the wall and Tommy Berry was keen to stay with her.  Well done to those who got better than 14/1 about her.  She now heads to the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes at Rosehill on Golden Slipper day.

Our other runner was Hazy Blur which put in a nice effort resuming from a spell.  She is likely to need one more run before she hits her straps.  Invincible Me was good 2nd up but missed the start and should have won the race.  Bella Venus was brave but can have a let up for a couple of weeks. I thought Atalanta Miss had won at Pakenham, great effort.

ON THE TRACK

The next week sees us continuing to have some great hopes.  On Friday night Maldicion heads to Cranbourne where she looks nicely placed.  On Sunday we have Invincible Me 3rd up at Mildura in a $20,000 0-58.  He should be close to his best now.

On Monday we look to have Hussy’s Glow in the $200,000 Adelaide Magic Millions Classic and Atalanta Miss in the $60,000 3yo handicap, both at Morphettville.  Provided she gets a run Flying Jess heads to Moonee Valley.  If she misses a run she may head to Adelaide on 19 March.

Two of our nice 2yo fillies Isthmian and Husson Boots are also set down to run at Gosford and Ipswich on 17 March and Invincible Al will head to Ballarat on 22 March.

We have other runners but I will confirm these next week.
