Darren Weir will trim his Blamey Stakes team to three runners.
Group One winners Trust In A Gust and Stratum Star will join stayer Manndawi in the Group Two race at Flemington over 1600m on Saturday.
But Lidari will be saved for a race during Monday's Adelaide Cup meeting.
Weir said it was not ideal running French-bred import Manndawi.
"It was very hard with the programming," he said.
"I didn't really want to run him going back in distance but it was either that or take him to Sydney for a race.
"I just didn't want to give him a trip away at this stage as he's on a Mornington Cup program."
Trust In A Gust, a dual Group One winner during the 2014 spring carnival, has had three runs back from a long spell.
He missed a trip to Brisbane last year when he was injured while being loaded onto a plane.
Trust In A Gust then needed surgery for a bone chip in a hind leg and missed the spring carnival.
At his latest outing, Trust In A Gust finished sixth to Turn Me Loose in the CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield.
Finishing second in the Orr was Stratum Star, a Group One Caulfield winner last spring.
"They're both in good shape," Weir said.
"The barrier's not ideal for Trust In A Gust and for Stratum Star, it looks the right race sort of race."
