Thyme For Roses has overcome a failed Blue Diamond bid to score an impressive Flemington win.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained filly will now return to Sydney after outpacing her rivals to win the Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes on Saturday.
Ridden by Ben Melham, Thyme For Roses ($9) scored by 2-3/4 lengths from Emphatically ($6) with Soviet Secret ($6) a short neck away third.
The Waterhouse stable shelved Blue Diamond plans Thyme For Roses after the filly failed in a lead-up race.
"Unfortunately she struggled the first time around the Caulfield track," Tulloch Lodge's Adrian Bott said.
"We saw her drop back to the 1000 metres here last week for the first time and on the quick back-up here over the 1200 metres she was too strong for them.
"We'll see how she comes through the race today, but she looks likely to be on the float back to Sydney."
Following her easy victory, Thyme For Roses shortened from $201 to $26 for next week's Golden Slipper and from $101 to $26 for the Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick on April 9.
