Prominent owners Lloyd and Nick Williams have landed a two-state stakes double, with Nevis winning the Golden Mile at Bendigo.
They also claimed Group One glory in Sydney when The United States took out the Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill.
While last year Observational produced a barnstorming run from the back to win, Irish import Nevis led throughout for Katelyn Mallyon.
Nevis ($9) fought bravely when tackled by Big Memory ($7) to score a short-head win with Survived ($21) 2-3/4 lengths away third.
Nevis set a fast speed over 1800m at Flemington at his last start on March 5 before tiring in the straight, finishing almost 14 lengths from the winner Tom Melbourne.
"Dropping back to the mile, I knew he was going to run it out," Mallyon said.
"Even though he was rolling along he was really comfortable and he really attacked the line today.
"When that other horse got up alongside me he really dug deep to win."
Mallyon said it was fantastic to ride a stakes race winner for Williams who has been a big supporter throughout her career.
Mallyon had earlier been successful in another front-running ride, guiding Written to victory in the Gold Bracelet over 1400m.
