Buffering wins in Dubai

Sunday 27 March 2016, 1:58am

Buffering has won the $765,000 Group One Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan in Dubai with a blistering run to finish ahead of the $2.75 favourite Ertijaal and Hong Kong's Peniaphobia in third.

The Robert Hethcote-trained eight-year-old emulated the feat of Australian mare Ortensia in the 1000 metre race four years ago in a time of 56.34 sec after jumping from barrier nine under Damian Browne.

The Queensland sprint star went off at $10 and produced a strong start allowing Browne to make his move in the final 100 metres where he thundered home to finish half a length ahead of the well-fancied Dubai horse.

The win was the seventh Group One victory of his stellar career.
