Tommy Berry has become the first NSW jockey suspended for whip use.
As well as a riding ban, Berry was fined $2000 for one strike too many on ATC Australian Derby winner Tavago at Randwick on Saturday.
Berry was one of four jockeys fined for Group One infringements after chief steward Ray Murrihy called riders in to warn them of the consequences.
Zac Purton was fined $2000 for his winning ride on Yankee Rose in the Sires' Produce Stakes while Hugh Bowman was given the same penalty for his ride on runner-up Pera Pera in the Country Championships Final.
Berry, who also rode Chautauqua to win the TJ Smith Stakes, will ride Designs On Rome in the Chairman's Trophy in Hong Kong on Sunday and return for the second day of The Championships next Saturday.
He will then miss three meetings before flying to Japan to ride in the Thousand Guineas meeting the following weekend.
