Pakenham to host feature Saturday meeting

Friday 8 April 2016, 6:35am

Pakenham will become the latest regional racecourse in Victoria to host a feature Saturday meeting.

Victoria's minister for racing, Martin Pakula, has announced the Pakenham Racing Club will host its inaugural stand-alone Saturday meeting on December 3.

The feature race at the meeting is the Pakenham Cup (2500m) with the $100,000 VOBIS Gold Bullion (1400m) among the support races.

Bendigo, Ballarat and Mornington are the other regional racetracks which already host feature Saturday meetings.

Pakenham hosted its first night meeting on Thursday and the club's chief executive Michael Hodge said they were expecting a crowd of 10,000 to attend this year's Pakenham Cup day.
