Enhancing what is already one of Australia’s most highly regarded stallion rosters through the recent addition of multiple Group One winner, Trust In A Gust, Swettenham Stud has announced its 2016 stallion fees … along with the introduction of a Live Foal Payment.

“This is a very exciting development for Swettenham Stud and the hundreds of broodmare owners who support the farm each year,” Swettenham Stud principal, Adam Sangster, enthused. “We have always sought to offer the most competitive fees and on-farm services, but the Live Foal Payment takes it to a new level.

“Whereas most other studs require payment of service fees 45 days after a positive pregnancy test, the Live Foal Payment effectively provides broodmare owners with a 12 month buffer.

“Previously, owners were out of pocket for several months if the mare went amiss, but with the Live Foal initiative, it is exactly as the name suggests: you only pay when you get a live foal.”

Swettenham Stud Bloodstock Manager, Brian Gorman, also believes the Live Foal Payment will be hugely beneficial for breeders: “For starters, it’s tremendously handy for clients who like to pay service fees from yearling sale proceeds, which in itself, now works both ways with progeny by Swettenham stallions all selling so well in 2016.

“So, through the generosity of our stallion shareholders, Swettenham will now improve the cash flow of breeders at a time when it’s most needed. The Live Foal Payment is a win-win for everyone.”

And, as an added bonus for supporters of Swettenham, Gorman added that fees will remain unchanged from 2015.
 

“We couldn’t be happier with the lineup for 2016 and maintaining the fees at last year’s prices is significant. Take Qatar’s Al Shaqab brilliant, Toronado, as an example: he was immensely popular in his first season and has 145 foals on the way.

“A son of High Chaparral who won a Group Two at two and Group Ones at three and four, Toronado’s Sussex Stakes was a second quicker than the legendary, Frankel, and we all know how well the Frankels were received at Easter. And as for Champion sons of High Chaparral, wouldn’t you like to have sent a mare to So You Think in his second season (selling up to $430,000 this year)!

“What’s more, the progeny of young sires such Equiano and Master of Design are progressing very nicely, the first crop of the Americains have sold well, while Puissance de Lune was also busy in his first season at stud which is understandable given his popularity on the track and being a son of Shamardal, who now has Group One winners in six countries.

“Swettenham prides itself on offering something for everyone: local and international bloodlines, lightning speed,

or horses that can run over a trip …

“And sure, it’s tempting to increase prices amid record prizemoney levels and great yearling sale prices, but we have deliberately kept the fees the same so breeders can maximise their investment. It’s a simple philosophy really: breeders win, we all win!”

“The interest in Trust In A Gust has been terrific since we announced he will stand at Swettenham Stud in 2016,” Sangster points out.

“It’s not surprising that a well-bred, dual Group One winner of the Sir Rupert Clarke and Toorak Handicap, is so popular, but it is always welcome when you get this much interest.

“Trust In A Gust will stand at an introductory fee of $12,500 inc. GST, while limited lifetime breeding rights remain at $25,000 inc. GST.”
