Criterion to stand for $35,750 at Newgate

Friday 22 April 2016, 2:03pm

Multiple Group One winner Criterion heads the new-season stallion roster at Newgate Farm.

The five-year-old ran his last race when unplaced in his attempted defence of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes earlier this month.

The winner of races from 1100m to 2400m and third in last year's Melbourne Cup, Criterion will stand for $35,750.

He joins another son of Sebring, reigning Horse of the Year Dissident, at Newgate with the latter to enter his second season at stud in the spring at his 2015 price of $33,000.

Another Newgate stallion, Foxwedge, had his first northern hemisphere winner on Thursday with two-year-old filly Seafront winning at Beverly.
