Queensland racing officials will hold an investigation into why they were not told about issues with the Kilcoy track.
Sunday's meeting was called off after an inspection by Racing Queensland stewards of a section of the track near the winning post which had been dug up to lay cables.
The Kilcoy club was scheduled to have its only Sunday TAB meting of the year and was also to host a large charity event.
An RQ spokesman said the Kilcoy Racing Club conducted track maintenance to install the cabling six weeks ago.
"RQ was not made aware about the cabling installation works or there being a problem with the track prior to this morning's inspection and as a result, a review will be conducted into the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the race meeting," an RQ statement said.
Under RQ's Meeting Abandonment Compensation Policy, stakeholders who attended the race meeting would be compensated and it was hoped the meeting could be rescheduled.
