Darren Weir and John Allen have continued their domination of the hurdle races at Warrnambool, claiming the feature race with Gingerboy.
After combining to win two hurdle races on Tuesday and another maiden hurdle on Day Two of the carnival, they were successful again when Gingerboy led throughout to claim the Galleywood Hurdle.
Sent out the $1.95 favourite, Gingerboy scored a four length win from Arch Fire ($3.60) with rank outsider Yolanda Be Cool ($151) six lengths away third.
The race was marred by the death of Tuscan Fire who was pulled up and euthanised after suffering an injury to his near-hind pastern.
Weir was planning an attack on another hurdle race at Warrnambool's three-day carnival with Gingerboy but changed tack when Now And Zen was ruled out following a colic attack.
"We had Now And Zen set for this race and were going to run Gingerboy in the Novice Hurdle tomorrow," Weir said.
Gingerboy is now unbeaten in three hurdle starts having broken his maiden status at Casterton last year before winning at Sandown.
"He's done a good job," Weir said.
"He travelled pretty strong and didn't jump quite as well as he can but he got around safe which was the main thing.
"He looks like he's got a pretty good future at it. He loves getting out in front and rolling along with it."
Gingerboy is likely to head to the Australian Hurdle at Sandown later in the month and then be set for the Grand National Hurdle in August.
A $300,000 bonus is on offer if Gingerboy can add those two races to his Galleywood success.
"We tried to do that with Gotta Take Care and failed in the National," Weir said.
"It's a pretty hard thing to do but the horse is heading in the right direction."
While Allen has made his name in Australia as a jumps jockey, he may soon get the opportunity to add a Group One race to his CV.
Allen rode Howard Be Thy Name to win the Port Adelaide Guineas at Morphettville last month and is in line to ride the three-year-old in the South Australian Derby on May 14.
"Next weekend we've got runners in Queensland and South Australia," Weir said.
"Brad (Rawiller) will probably go to Queensland and Johnny's the logical replacement so he might get the opportunity over there."
