The way Don't Doubt Mamma won the Redelva Stakes showed her trainer she was on target for the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes.

And the past two weeks have been all about keeping the talented filly happy and healthy for her first test at the highest level.

She is one of the favoured runners in Saturday's Robert Sangster (1200m) at Morphettville in which McEvoy also runs former New Zealand mare Miss Seton Sands.

Don't Doubt Mamma finished strongly to win the Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) at her first start for six weeks.

"I was concerned that it would have been too short for her but she showed her class," McEvoy said.

"She was excellent.

"I've done very little with her. I just want her in that form.

"I don't need to make her any better, I don't think, and she's nice and fresh and well."

Miss Seton Sands ran second in the Group One Telegraph Handicap in February before joining McEvoy's team.

The mare won her first Australian start in Melbourne but was unplaced at her second outing at Sandown over 1000m.

"It's a step up in grade for both horses, although Miss Seton Sands has been placed at Group One level in New Zealand, running second against the boys in the Telegraph Handicap."

McEvoy achieved Group One success when he was the head trainer at Lindsay Park from 2001 to 2005, including a Cox Plate win with Fields Of Omagh in 2003.

A victory to either Don't Doubt Mamma or Miss Seton Sands, however, would be a milestone for McEvoy since the formation of McEvoy Mitchell Racing in 2010.

"It would be good. It would be another Group One, the first one in my new venture," McEvoy said.

"And this is why we do it, to get runners at the elite level."
