Miles Of Krishan impresses Eurell

Monday 9 May 2016, 5:20pm

Trainer Greg Eurell has no reservations about stepping three-year-old filly Miles Of Krishan up to Saturday grade for her second start.

Miles Of Krishan, who has family ties to Group One winners Tiger Tees and Terravista, will try to add Saturday's 1400m benchmark race for fillies at Caulfield to her maiden win at Sandown on April 27.

Eurell said he had liked the filly since she arrived at his stable about six months ago.

"She's just an outstanding looking filly and you would have been bitterly disappointed if she couldn't run," Eurell said.

"But she runs up to her looks. She's a lovely moving filly, well-balanced and light over the ground.

"She's got a bit of class about her."

Eurell is hoping Saturday's race will give him a better guide to Miles Of Krishan, but is optimistic about her future and believes she is showing stakes class potential.

"I would think from what she's shown us at home, she's certainly heading in that direction," Eurell said.

"I thought she did a good job first-up.

"Hopefully we'll get a bit of a guide on where she's at this time in and you'd be hoping that she would show us enough that we'd be able to try to work towards a nice race in the spring for her."

Craig Newitt has the ride on Miles Of Krishan.

The trainer is hoping to run Defence Witness at Caulfield if he makes the field for the 2000m handicap for three-year-olds, and said the plan has been to step him out over ground.

Defence Witness, formerly trained by Phillip Stokes, was fourth in a 1600m benchmark race at Pakenham at his first start for Eurell and will be on trial for a trip to Brisbane where he is nominated for the Queensland Derby.

"If he could stick on, that would be our plan to go to Brisbane," Eurell said.
