Stackhouse suspended, misses SA Derby

Tuesday 10 May 2016, 6:20am

A careless riding suspension has cost Daniel Stackhouse the Group One ride on Cool Chap in the South Australian Derby.

Stackhouse was outed for 10 meetings at Ballarat on Sunday.

The VRC St Leger winner, Cool Chap is high up in markets for Saturday's Derby (2500m) at Morphettville ahead of acceptances on Tuesday.

The Mick Kent-trained Charlevoix, who defeated Cool Chap in the Galilee Series Final at Sandown last month, is the $3.80 favourite.

The South Australian Derby is one of two Group One races in Australia on Saturday, the other being the weight-for-age BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben in Brisbane.

The first Group One race of the Brisbane winter carnival, the BTC Cup has 19 nominations with Canberra sprinter Fell Swoop the early favourite.
