The Adelaide carnival may be in full swing, but Morphettville hobby trainer Chris Bieg has sent consistent galloper Excites Zelady across to Melbourne.
After Excites Zelady ran third to Tonopah and Zebrinz at Morphettville last week, Bieg decided to extend the horse's campaign for one more start.
Excites Zelady runs in the Tile Importer City Timber Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday for which he is a $13 chance in betting.
Bieg, who runs a feed store while training 10 horses, said Excites Zelady was due to have a freshen-up after last week's placing.
"If he comes through this run OK we'll freshen him up and may be press on to something like the Swan Hill Cup, or we might wait for something like the Balaklava Cup," Bieg said.
Excites Zelady is no stranger to winning 1600m country cup races having won the last two Murray Bridge Cups.
His victory in 2014 was under Jordon Childs who takes the ride on Saturday and importantly reduces his mount's handicap to 54.5kg.
Bieg said the program for a horse of Excites Zelady's rating made him a difficult horse to place.
"He's a 93 rater and it gets a bit tricky here in Adelaide now," Bieg said.
"He's not an overly big horse so you don't want him going around with 59 or 60 kilos every start."
Bieg doesn't travel to Melbourne often and his only starter at Caulfield was Dashitude who won during a 2012 visit.
He trainer won't be at Caulfield on Saturday and instead he will be at Morphettville where he has three runners including With A Bit Of Dash in the Listed Oaklands Plate.
