Owner Glenn Whittenbury is hoping his recent good fortune of an international win will carry over to a home-town victory at Flemington with Atlantic Express.

Last weekend, Whittenbury travelled to Singapore to watch his Barree Pastoral colours carried to success by Debt Collector in the Singapore Guineas.

Prepared by former Melbourne trainer Cliff Brown, Debt Collector is regarded as Singapore's leading three-year-old after winning his past three starts.

Whittenbury is back home to see two-year-old Atlantic Express in his colours in the the Pat Hyland Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday.

"I booked to go up to Singapore months ago and I try and tie it in with a decent race meeting," Whittenbury said.

"This was meant to be the international weekend so Cliff tries to have a runner or two for us when we come up.

"This horse has kept on improving so it was perfect timing that I was there to see him win a Group One race."

Whittenbury has three horses in training with Brown while his Australian team is prepared at Flemington by Tom Hughes.

Atlantic Express has had three starts and caught the eye with a strong-finishing fifth in Listed grade over 1200m at Caulfield on April 30 and Whittenbury said the extra 200m on Saturday would be ideal.

"He's a nice horse that we bred," Whittenbury said.

"He ran nicely last time and the jockey got off him and was happy with the way he worked into the race late.

"We would have liked to draw a bit better but he appears to be a horse that gets back, so the draw (12) might not be too bad.

"It's his home track and I think the longer straight will also suit him better than it did at Caulfield."
