Hawkesbury track drying out

Friday 10 June 2016, 5:51pm

The Hawkesbury track has recovered to be in the soft range with a further improvement expected ahead of its family race day.

After copping 169mm of rain last weekend, fine weather the track had dried out to a soft (7) by Friday.

Track manager Jeff Haynes said Jeff Penza would gallop a horse on the course proper on Saturday morning and the track would be re-assessed ahead of Sunday's meeting.

"There will be a number of attractions on course with live music, a free Kidz Zoo and face painting and $2000 in cash and prizes on offer," Hawkesbury Race Club chief executive Greg Rudolph said.

"The theme of the day is 'Family Funday' and we encourage racegoers and their families to get out and enjoy the middle of the long weekend at the races, particularly after last weekend's wash-outs."
