Rosettas Whey posted her second win from 8 starts with an impressive last to first victory at Newcastle (Beaumont) on Saturday.
The Gerald Ryan trained daughter of Testa Rossa settled towards the rear of the field before being forced wide around the home turn, giving her rivals a good seven or eight lengths head start.
Ridden patiently by apprentice Travis Wolfgram, the 3yo filly showed a great turn of foot to run them down late, beating Tough As Teak by a short neck with Haut Haut a long head away in third.
The addition of the blinkers and being ridden more quietly certainly did the trick to switch her back on after a disappointing couple of runs.
“Good win. One thing we did learn is that she is looking for more distance. There is a 3yo, 1500m race at Rosehill on the 2nd of July. They maybe a bit strong for her but being her own age and at her home track, it may give us a guide as to where she sits,” trainer Gerald Ryan mentioned in his post-race comments.
The win took Rosettas Whey’s earnings to over $42,000. Congratulations to all of the connections in Rosettas Whey.
