While Dwayne Dunn is chasing a breakthrough Melbourne jockeys' premiership, his son Dylan is also focused on securing a title.
Dwayne Dunn heads to Saturday's Moonee Valley meeting with a three-win lead over Craig Williams in the Melbourne jockeys' premiership.
Dylan Dunn is in eighth place on the overall standings with 30 metropolitan wins in Victoria this season but leads the apprentices' standings with Michael Dee his nearest challenger.
A winning double at Sandown from Dee on Wednesday moved him to within six of Dunn.
"I am clear but I definitely don't feel comfortable at all," Dunn said.
"I'm just trying to keep my head down and work as hard as I can and if I can continue to ride winners hopefully it all pans out."
Dunn has six rides at Moonee Valley, one of 12 remaining city meetings for the season which ends on July 31.
Four for his rides are for his bosses David Hayes and Tom Dabernig while the other two are for Victoria's leading trainer Darren Weir.
The apprentices' title has become a focus for 21-year-old Dunn.
"When I first started riding I never really had it as a goal because I couldn't ride 54 kilos, so I thought I'd never get enough opportunities to be able to ride the amount of winners necessary," he said.
"But I've just tried to make the most of my opportunities and it's put me in front at this point.
"It's definitely a goal of mine now, that's for sure. It's probably my main focus at the moment."
Dunn's book of Moonee Valley rides include last start winners Lahqa and Kenjorwood who are early favourites in their respective races while he is looking forward to partnering Fireworks and Anyaas who are stepping out for their first starts since being transferred to the Hayes and Dabernig stable.
