The weather in Melbourne is likely to determine whether Lucky Lucky Lucky takes his place in a staying race at Flemington.
Trainer Tony McEvoy has Lucky Lucky Lucky and stablemate Streaming By nominated for Saturday's 2500m handicap.
Lucky Lucky Lucky also holds a nomination for a maiden hurdle at Morphettville but McEvoy has all but ruled out that option with the track in Adelaide currently heavy with more rain predicted.
"I would say it would either be Melbourne or not at all," McEvoy said.
"I would like to run them both (at Flemington) but it will all depend on the weather with Lucky Lucky Lucky.
"He's not effective on wet ground."
McEvoy said a Soft (5) or Soft (6) would be OK for Lucky Lucky Lucky but any worse and he wouldn't run.
McEvoy has booked Damien Oliver to ride Lucky Lucky Lucky in the Flemington race, with the track rated soft (6) on Tuesday.
Lucky Lucky Lucky placed in the Mornington Cup in April before winning over 2800m at Flemington.
McEvoy tried him over 3200m for a second time in his career in the recent Andrew Ramsden Stakes but his eighth placing convinced the trainer he's not a two-miler on the flat.
"He galloped this morning at Flemington and his work was of a very good standard," McEvoy said.
"He's in great order."
Lightly raced import Streaming By impressed McEvoy with his win over 2400m in a benchmark race at Sandown last Wednesday, his fifth start back from a year off due to a tendon injury.
"I was really pleased with him," McEvoy said.
"It's a significant step up in class but he's a six-year-old and we've been really patient. We've had no luck with him and I've just decided we'll step him up in open company and see where he sits.
"He was always a horse we wanted to get out in trip."
