As the winter carnival draws to a close, several Queensland trainers are planning to continue the momentum with across-the-border raids.

Premier Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan was happy with the fifth of veteran Brave Ali in Saturday's Tattersall's Cup (2200m) and will press on with plans to tackle the Grafton Cup on July 14.

"It was the first time since December 2014 I was actually able to get him out to a distance further than 2000 metres," Gollan said.

"I know he is rising ten but he has been working well and I have finally got him right," Gollan said.

Gollan is also considering a southern trip with handy three-year-old Most Important who returned from a spell with a good second at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

"He is eligible for a NSW bonus scheme so I might take him to Sydney before the end of the season," Gollan said.

Trainer Kelly Doughty is also looking at a Grafton or Sydney trip with Saturday's all-the-way Eagle Farm winner Flamboyer.

"He likes wet tracks so we have been thinking about Sydney which is having a wet winter. Also the option would be there to tackle the Ramornie Handicap at Grafton if the track was wet, but we will make a decision later this week," Doughty said.

"That was his first run in six weeks but we planned it that way because he only had one Class Six win left and we decided to aim for the big money. He will be in benchmark and open company races now."

Trainer David Kelly is keen to run Aldini in Sunday week's South Grafton Cup after his eye-catching third in the Listed Spear Chief Stakes on Saturday.

"Aldini was the best part of seven deep the whole way. It was a mighty run. The South Grafton Cup will suit him and we can go from there," Kelly said.

Owner Steve Foster will also look at the Grafton Cup (2350m) on July 14 for Group One placegetter Teronado who was a strong second over 1830m on Saturday.
