Leading Sydney jockey James McDonald could be afforded more opportunities in England with fellow Godolphin rider William Buick losing an appeal against a 30-day suspension.

Buick was outed for 15 days after he was found to have caused a fall in the French Oaks on June 19.

He was given another 15 days for being offensive to officials during the race day inquiry.

The ban rules him out of races such as the Irish Oaks and King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, as well as the prestigious Goodwood meeting.

"I acted in the heat of the moment through frustration and I am very remorseful that I will miss an important period of the season," Buick said in a statement to Press Association Sport.

McDonald, who won the Northumberland Plate on Antiquarium, a possible Melbourne Cup contender for Godolphin, is riding in England during the Australian winter.
