Australian-bred The Conglomerate has won South Africa's premier race, the Group One Durban July at Greyville.

By champion sire Lonhro out of dual Group One winner Republic Lass, The Conglomerate was ridden by Piere Strydom for trainer Joey Ramsden.

The four-year-old gave well-known owners Marcus and Ingrid Jooste their first victory in the 2200m-Group One race.

The Conglomerate, the eighth Group One winner for Lonhro and the fifth foal of Republic Lass, cost $160,000 at the 2013 Inglis Premier sale.
