Nominations taken for 2017 Blue Diamond

Reigning Blue Diamond-winning trainer Mick Price has numbers on his side for his defence of the race next year.

Nominations have been taken for next year's $1.5 million Blue Diamond (1200m) for two-year-olds, with 1372 horses entered.

Price, who trains at Caulfield and has won the Blue Diamond with Samaready in 2012 and Extreme Choice this year, has the most nominations with 102 entries.

Godolphin has 94 yearlings nominated while the training partnership of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig have 84 entries, just ahead of Gai Waterhouse (80).

Snitzel is the leading sire with 73 of his progeny nominated.
