Trainer Chris Munce's decision to go back to basics with two-year-old Snow Fields has reaped a maiden win for the filly at Doomben.
Ridden by Jeff Lloyd, Snow Fields held on to beat Invinciboy by a short neck in the Saturday's Giddy Up Club 2YO (1350m).
The filly had been unplaced at all five of her previous starts and Munce decided to revert to basics with the filly.
"I took blinkers off her and did a few other little things with her. It was back to basics," Munce said.
"It was the first time today she had been on a dry track and she obviously appreciated it.
"I have always had an opinion of her and started her in only one maiden. She even had her first start in a stakes race and she has raced against some very good two-year-olds.
"The 1350 metres suited her at this stage of her campaign."
Snow Fields will now head for a spell and be brought back into work for the Magic Millions carnival in January.
"I would like to hope she might make an Oaks filly next year but that is a long way off," Munce said.
