The New Zealand and Chinese racing industries have joined together for the inaugural running of the New Zealand Bloodstock Cup at Korchin in Inner Mongolia.
Sunday's race for three-year-olds was a joint venture between NZB and Mr Lang Lin of the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Club and the owner of Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan.
Da Qian Shi Jie was the highest rated runner in the field, having won one of his two previous starts, and he proved his superiority with a breathtaking performance for NZ jockey Alysha Collett and trainer Yu Jiankang.
Collett moved him to the lead at the 800m and her mount surged clear to win by five lengths.
Da Qian Shi Jie was bred by Don Edwards and Margaret Fife, who is the nominations manager at Cambridge Stud.
