Back-to-back wins for Super Tycoon

Saturday 16 July 2016, 3:34pm

Apprentice jockey James Innes has guided Super Tycoon to victory on his last day of riding before he starts a three-week suspension.

He brought Super Tycoon ($9) from last in the 1500m TAB Rewards Handicap at Rosehill on Saturday, timing his run beautifully to swamp Final Decision ($14) in a photo finish.

Francesco ($12) was a short head away in third.

Super Tycoon's win made it back-to-back wins for the Greg Mcfarlane-trained gelding.

Innes said drawing the widest barrier was a significant challenge for Super Tycoon.

"I was confident but I never go off too early," Innes said.

"He had so many obstacles to overcome today and he got the job done."

Innes is set to spend three weeks on the sidelines for two separate suspensions for careless riding and excessive whip use.

Mcfarlane said he had no immediate plans for the horse, but hoped to preserve Super Tycoon's confidence by spelling him while he was in good form.

"Short spell, bring him back and go again," he said.
