Elle Lou is destined for the Group Three Toy Show Quality after a strong win at Rosehill.
The Chris Waller-trained mare won her third race of the preparation and will be stepped up to compete with stronger opposition.
On a Saturday when jockeys favoured the outside, Glyn Schofield gave Elle Lou ($4.80) a ground-saving run and she had plenty of room to hold out Extensible ($5) by a length in the Pluck @ Vinery Handicap.
Rank outsider In A Wink ($51) was a further half-neck away in third.
Race favourite Thud ($3.70) failed to accelerate in the straight, finishing sixth.
She was later found to have suffered a bleeding attack.
Elle Lou's victory edged Waller to within five of breaking his own metropolitan training record of 167.5 winners in a season.
With four meetings remaining for the season, Waller said the record was still within reach.
"I thought we might have had a couple today but we were just spraying them at the dartboard to start with," Waller said.
He said the Toy Show Quality at Randwick on August 20 was now the target race for Elle Lou.
"I don't turn horses out when they're winning like that unless they're superstars," Waller said.
