In-form mare Beirut has continued her late-season winning streak at Caulfield and is set to be given her chance in a stakes race before she retires to the breeding barn.
Beirut joined Henry Dwyer's stable at Caulfield before the start of her latest preparation, and after being beaten in her first three starts for the trainer, she has since strung together four-straight wins.
Dwyer says the mare has exceeded expectations.
"We knew she was going to stud this year so we thought we'd keep pushing ahead and maybe hopefully win one in town with her in a midweek race," Dwyer said.
"She did that and we were rapt.
"We thought that was her ceiling but obviously this was a Saturday race today, and she's got one more run.
"I know it's probably raising the bar too high, but we'll have a crack at the Bletchingly or something."
The Group Three Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) is at Caulfield in two weeks, on the final weekend of the 2015/16 racing season.
Dwyer said a finish in the Bletchingly placings would be great for Beirut because it would add some black type to her pedigree.
Beirut took up the running in Saturday's Mypunter.com Handicap (1200m) and opened up a winning break early in the straight before holding off Nadeem Lass by half a length with 2-1/4 lengths to Vibrant Rouge third.
